RW121 Emerson Medellín: Interview at WERS By Nicholas Garlow -- June 20, 2010

WHO WE ARE

This is a bi-lingual, bi-national project among 57 students working across 3 First-Year Research Writing classes at Emerson College in Boston and 5 library parks (Parques Bibliotecas) and the Universidad Nacional in Medellín, Colombia. Subjects include cocaine, food, flowers, salsa, baseball, architecture, women, film, poetry, hip-hop, and youth blogs. Our goal? (1)Inspire people to consider context for violence and drug trade in Medellín (2)move beyond reducing Colombia and Colombians to violence, poverty & cocaine & (3) engage in what we might learn from Medellín.
